Kimpton Hotel Palomar, San Diego

Another early morning flight from Central Oregon. This time, it's the 0515 departure, which means a 0245 wake-up.

I need intravenous coffee. Quickly.

The nice thing about the Redmond airport is that it's literally two minutes thru Security. Small town amenities!

Arrival in San Diego around 10am, and a quick Uber ride to the Kimpton Hotel Palomar, a boutique property located in the Gas Lamp district downtown. My conference is on Coronado, but I prefer to stay in a more centrally located area. Lots to do around Broadway!

I pull up to the hotel. Yes, I know it's way before check-in time. I'm tired, fighting a cold, and out of sorts. I could really use another hot shower and a brief rest.

Beautiful lobby. I take a moment to soak in the surroundings.

My turn at the desk...."I know I'm early. Is there any chance a room might be available?"  If not, I simply head over the Bay Bridge to the conference right away.

Counter Agent Ben: "Yes, sir. I believe we can get you in now."

Sigh.

And an upgrade. On the 16th floor. Corner suite.

Coffee table book. I love San Diego!

The night view from Horton Plaza...My room is a few floors below the green trim.

The location is perfect. Tons of dining options nearby, and a short walk to that gorgeous waterfront. I arrive just in time for a spectacular sunset over Point Loma.

Wonderful hotel. Wonderful visit. Beautiful room.

Thank you, Kimpton!
